"O Eu por Trás de Mim"

The "O Eu por Trás de Mim" series draws its inspiration from my profound reverence for literature and its profound impact on both my life and artistic process. Influenced by Guimarães Rosa's "O Espelho," the series explores the delicate balance between reality and imagination, appearance and essence, truth and illusion. Guided by Rosa's fusion of regionalism and universal themes, the series aims to disrupt conventional notions of self-perception. By juxtaposing human and animal archetypes, it challenges viewers to reconsider their identities, offering a glimpse into the infinite possibilities of being.

Process

The "O Eu por Trás de Mim" series was meticulously crafted through a multi-step process, beginning with the selection of volunteers who resonated with its themes. Each volunteer wore animal masks, symbolizing a merging of human and animal qualities, mirroring the introspective journey depicted in Guimarães Rosa's "O Espelho." Using Mixed Media techniques such as phototransfer, digital art, newspaper, and embroidery, their photographs were transformed into striking visual representations. These artworks, totaling 13 pieces on canvas, capture the essence of introspection and cultural heritage, reflecting the intricate layers of identity explored within the series.
